Simo Valakari becomes the new “Riga Football Club” head coach

The 50-year-old Finnish specialist Simo Valakari has been appointed as the head coach of “Riga Football Club”! Welcome to the team, coach!

Simo Valakari was born on April 28, 1973 in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. As a footballer, Simo has represented the Finnish clubs “Kontu”, “FinnPa”, “TPS”, the Scottish Highest league club “Motherwell”, the English Premier League team “Derby County” and the American club “Dallas”. Valakari has played 32 games for the Finnish national team.

Valakari started his coaching career in the Finnish club AIFK. From 2012 to 2016, Valakari was the head coach of Finnish Highest league club SJK. With this club, Valakari became the champion of Finland in 2016, won the Finnish Cup in 2016 and won the Finnish League Cup in 2014.

After that, Valakari worked for Tromso IL in the Norwegian Highest league for almost three years. In 2021, Simo was appointed as the head coach of the Finnish club “KuPS”. Simo became Finnish vice-champion in 2021 and 2022, but won the Finnish Cup in both of these years. In the previous season, Valakari was the head coach of another Latvian club “Auda”.
