“Riga” won against the Lithuanian champions and heads to the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers on a positive note.

Positive Emotions Ahead of Important Matches

The 3rd round of the Baltic Women’s Football League took place in Šiauliai, where Riga FC Women faced off against the Lithuanian champions “FC Gintra.”

In an evenly matched game, after conceding the first goal, Riga managed to equalize within a minute, which helped maintain the team’s confidence.
In the 32nd minute, a precise free kick secured the lead, and the first half ended with a one-goal advantage.

In the second half, the team had to involve the defenders more often, and their teamwork paid off — maintaining the goal advantage, the match concluded on a positive note with a 2:1 victory in favor of Riga.

According to the Baltic Women’s Football League regulations, each team plays four matches in the group stage. Currently, Riga holds the top position.
In the first match, a 1:0 victory was celebrated against the Estonian champions FC Flora. In the second, due to the cancellation of the match against MFA Žalgiris, Riga received three additional points (the opponents were awarded a technical loss).

The final match of the Baltic Football League group stage will take place in September, when Riga will face the Estonian runners-up “Saku Sporting Women.”
