Proņins: “We will work to make our ambitions a reality and continue development of the entire club”

Riga FC General Director Aleksandrs Pronin’s speech on the past year 2025 and goals in 2026.

Aleksandrs Proņins, General Director of Riga Football Club: “The past season was truly significant for us. We took a long and not easy path, which ultimately led to achieving the main goal – the Latvian championship title. The beginning of the season was difficult, we were unable to get going, we lost a lot of points, but it was this stage that became the main test of character and collective strength. The team was able to draw the right conclusions and show its true potential.

The rest of the season can be called successful, we won 15 games in a row in the championship.

We also had a worthy European Cup season. We played convincingly, but unfortunately we were unable to defeat the strong Prague “Sparta” in the play-off stage. In any case, it was a valuable experience to understand what to work on in the future.

I would like to say a special thank you to the coaching team, as well as to the entire Sports Department. Their professionalism and daily work were very important to achieve the result. Of course, thank you to the players, they demonstrated a high fighting spirit and team strength. The players progressed, and this was the basis for us to win.

Thank you also to the entire club staff and all our employees, who worked every day to ensure that the team lacked nothing, to prepare the stadium, and to organize the games. All this is a great work of equally or at least like-minded people.

I will also note the growth of the championship level. The competition has become stronger. Currently, even teams from the lower part of the tournament are able to take points from the leaders, which indicates the right direction in the development of the championship and the work of the federation. Thank you to the referees for their neutral and honest work.

Looking to the future, we want to repeat our success and understand that it will not be easy, but challenges like these motivate us. Next season we want to take advantage of our opportunity to enter the main tournament of one of the European cups. To achieve this, we will have to do a lot of work and maintain maximum concentration. Of course, luck is always needed, but it does not come without work, so we will soon go to training camps in the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. We will work to make our ambitions a reality and continue the gradual development of the entire club.
