On Saturday, in the Latvian Supercup game, we won (1:1, 5:4 p.s.s.) RFS! A goal for our team was scored by Gauthier Mankenda!
The Latvian Super Cup took place after an 11-year break. At that time Daugavpils “Daugava” defeated Riga “Skonto”. The director of the Daugavpils team at that time was our current CEO Romans Lajuks.
In the first half, both teams played quite aggressively, there were no good goal-scoring moments and there was more of a battle for the initiative. RFS scored first. In the 43rd minute, after a corner kick in our penalty area, we allowed Žiga Lipušček to think for a long time, and the defender finally shot the ball into the bottom corner. After the first half, we were trailing 0:1.
In the second half, we were the best team on the field. In the 70th minute, Gautier Mankenda ran away from the opponents and leveled the score – 1:1 with a powerful shot. We tried to score the second goal as well, we played more with the ball, but we couldn’t score, and the 90 minutes ended with a score of 1:1.
The penalty series went to the eighth round. Raivis Jurkovskis shot the ball powerfully into the upper corner of the goal, but Rihards Matrevics saved us after Ismael Diomande’s shot. Victory and first trophy this season!
