On Friday, in the 34th round of the Latvian Highest league, we played 0:0 against FK “Tukums 2000” at the Skonto Stadium, which was enough to become Latvian champions.
This year, we had defeated Tukums four times in a row – 3:0, 3:0, 1:0 in the Latvian Championship and 4:0 in the Latvian Cup.
In the fifth game, both teams played quite cautiously. Before the game, it was clear that in the event of a win or a draw, we would secure the title. In the first half, we brought the ball into the penalty area many times, made 11 shots, but were unable to score a goal. 0:0 after 45 minutes.
In the second half, we controlled the ball much more than our opponents. In total, we made 23 shots in this game, which was not enough to score a goal. On the other hand, a 0:0 draw was enough for us to guarantee the championship title.
The next game is on Wednesday in the Latvian Cup final against FK “Auda”.
