Tonight in the 5th round of the Latvian Highest league, in an away match we defeated “Liepāja” with the scoreline of 5:2. Goals were scored by Iago Siqueira, Marko Regža, Meissa Diop, Brian Peña, but one was own goal by opponent.
We had a very bad start to the season. We had only five of the maximum 12 points. “Liepāja” had seven earned points until this game.
We showed a very strong performance against “Liepāja” at the beginning of the game, and in the 10th minute, after a great combination, Iago Siqueira scored a goal (1:0). Five minutes later, Meissa Diop missed a great opportunity, but the home team scored in their own goal (2:0). In the 27th minute, Marko Regža scored a penalty kick, and we had already laid a good foundation for victory in the whole game.
In the next nine minutes, “Liepāja” scored two goals (3:2), which caused a little drop of emotions, but in the second half the team reacted perfectly. “Liepāja” had one good chance, but we scored two goals – in the 59th minute Diop showed his speed qualities (4:2), and in the 82nd minute Brian Peña masterfully took advantage of the opponent’s mistake. 5:2 victory.
