Tonight in the 29th round of the Latvian Highest league, for the fourth time this season, we drew against RFS – 0:0. The next game is on September 20 in the semi-finals of the Latvian Cup against “Liepāja”!
We had played against RFS three times this season and all three ended in a draw – 0:0, 2:2 and 0:0.
The opponents started the game actively, but goalkeeper Rihards Matrevics showed a convincing performance in our goal. We gradually gained the initiative, executed several standard situations, but there was a lack of dangerous shots. In general, both teams played relentlessly, there were many duels, but the scoreboard after the first half was a draw without goals scored. 0:0.
We had more good chances in the second half. Our midfielder Kemehlo Nguena shot very dangerously twice, but both times the ball flew slightly past the goal. In the 76th minute, former “Riga” defender Herdi Prenga scored a goal from close range, but the referee from Poland, Krzysztof Jakubik, went to watch this episode with the help of VAR and confirmed it was offside. In the 90th minute, the opposing defender Žiga Lipušček was sent off for the second yellow card. In the last minutes, both teams played carefully – a draw 0:0.
