Tough victory in an away match

Today in the 8th round of the Latvian Highest league we earned a difficult victory against “Metta” with a scoreline of 2:1. The goals were scored by Luis Iberico and Abdulrahman Taiwo! The big Riga derby on Saturday at Skonto Stadium.

We had won “Metta” in Latvian Highest league the last eight games in a row. In the previous game, we suffered a painful loss in Tukums, so it was very important to win today.

Similar to other games, we controlled the ball a lot. We scored the first goal in the 6th minute. After Miloš Jojic’s pass Luis Iberico made a shot from the penalty area, after the first shot the goalkeeper saved the opponents, but after the second he couldn’t do it anymore. 1:0. After that, we lacked aggressiveness in attack, there were practically no dangerous moments and we were leading 1:0 after the first half.

We started the second half actively and deservedly scored another goal. In the 63rd minute, after Jojic’s pass, Abdulrahman Taiwo scored the first goal this season (2:0). Eight minutes later, Lamine Correa scored the opponent’s first goal from close range (2:1). The end of the game was nervous, and in one of the episodes goalkeeper Nils Puriņš made a very big save. Victory with the result 2:1.

Tonight in the the 7th round of the Latvian Highest league we lost to “Tukums 2000/Telms” with a scoreline of 1:2. Eduards Daškevičs scored the only goal for our team. The next game is against “Metta” on Sunday.

Before this game, we were the leaders of the Latvian championship with 15 points, but Tukums had also started the season well, and the team took a place in the middle of the tournament table with ten points.

We completely dominated the first half of the game. Eduards Dašķevičs was very active also in this game, the midfielder made a lot of crosses in the penalty area, but there was no final shot from his teammates. After the first half of the game, it was tied 0:0.

At the beginning of the second half, the opponents made a good counterattack, we played poorly, and Tukums scored the first goal of the game (0:1). We continued to control the ball, create moments, but in the 69th minute, after the set piece, the opponents scored the second goal (0:2). In the 84th minute, Eduards Daškevičs made it 1:2. We also attacked at the end, but unsuccessfully. Loss with 1:2.

The next game will be against “Metta” on Sunday.

Tonight at the Mežaparks Sports Village in the 6th round of the Latvian Highest league we defeated “Daugavpils” with a scoreline of 2:0! Goals were scored by Antonijs Černomordiijs and Marko Regža. On Tuesday we will have an away match in Tukums.

“Daugavpils” had a very good start of the season. The team was in second place with 11 points before this round. We had earned 12 out of the maximum 15.

Very quickly managed to score a goal. In the 3rd minute, after Miloš Jojic’s corner kick, Marko Regza extended the ball to Antonijs Černomordijs, and the defender scored a goal in his comeback game – 1:0. In the first half, Eduards Daškėvičs was very active on the left wing. The midfielder created several goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates, but we did not score. At the end of the half, Baba Musah made a foul in the penalty area, but goalkeeper Nils Puriņš made a great save. After the first half we were in the lead with 1:0.

In the second half we continued to dominate the. We had a lot of scoring chances, but Frenks Orols played great in the opponents goal. Daugavpils did not create any really good chances. At the end of the game, Regža scored the seventh goal this season, and we won 3:0.

The next game is on Tuesday in Tukums.

Tonight in the 5th round game of the Latvian Highest league, we won “Jelgava” with a scoreline of 2:0! Marko Regža became the best scorer of all time in the history of our club! The game against “Daugavpils” is already on Friday.

We got nine of the maximum 12 points in the first four games. The only loss was experienced away in Valmiera. “Jelgava” had earned one point at the beginning of the season.

“Jelgava” played very low in the first minutes of the game. We controlled the ball a lot, had good chances, but couldn’t score. In the first 45 minutes, several players in our team had good moments, but the best was for Marko Regža. From a close range, the forward missed almost empty net. After the first half, it was tied 0:0.

At the beginning of the second half, after a pass by Miloš Jojić, Regža scored a goal. It was the striker’s 27th goal in the “Riga” shirt, and Marko thus became the all-time best goal scorer in our club. We could not score the second goal for a long time, and at the end of the game the opponents had a few moments, but Nils Puriņš played well in our goal. At the end of the game Brian Peña scored the first goal of the season and we won 2:0.

The next game is on Friday at Mežaparks Sports Village against “Daugavpils”. The kick-off at 18:00.

Tonight, in the 4th round of the Latvian Highest league, we won “Liepāja” very convincingly with the scoreline of 4:0. Marko Regža scored three goals for our team, while Baba Musa scored one. The game against “Jelgava” is already on Monday.

In the previous round, we experienced our first loss this season. In Valmiera, we scored the first goal, but in the final result we lost with 1:2. “Liepāja” had lost all the first three games.

We completely controlled the game from the first minutes. We scored the first goal in the 20th minute. After a pass from Eduards Daškėvičs, Marko Regža scored a goal from in front of the goal – 1:0. “Liepāja” did not have any good chances in the first half, we continued to attack, and at the end of the half, the opponents made a foul in the penalty area. Regža scored the second goal of the game from the 11-meter mark – 2:0.

In the first ten minutes of the second half, the opponents had some good chances, but our goalkeeper Nils Puriņš played convincingly. After that, we were in complete control of the game again. In the 71st minute, Baba Musah scored a header from close range – 3:0. We had a few more very good chances, but scored the last goal late in the game. Marko Regža scored the third goal from the penalty spot and we won 4:0.

The next game is already on Monday at Mežaparks Sports Village against “Jelgava”. The kick-off at 19:00.

In the 3rd round game of the Latvian Highest league, we were the first to score a goal, but in the end we lost to “Valmiera” with the scoreline of 1:2. Gautier Mankenda scored the only goal for our team.

Both teams had won the first two games. We won both “Grobina” and “Auda” with the scoreline of 1:0. “Valmiera” had defeated “Metta” (2:0) and RFS (1:0).

We had a very good first 20 minutes. We created several goal-scoring moments and deservedly scored one goal. In the 9th minute, after a great pass by Kirils Iļjins, Gauthier Mankenda scored a goal – 1:0. In the second part of the half, “Valmiera” was already better. The opponents had some very good chances, but we saved our goal by working together. After the first half we were in the lead with 1:0.

The first ten minutes of the second half were a disaster. “Valmiera” scored two goals. In the 47th minute, the opponents scored a goal after our mistake, after which they created a quick combination and Leo Gaucho scored from close range (1:1). Seven minutes later, we played badly in our penalty area, and the opponent’s captain Daniels Balodis scored the second goal (2:1). During the rest of the game, we played more with the ball, but we could not get at least one point. Loss with 1:2.
