On Saturday, in the first round of the Latvian Highest eague, we lost to FK “Liepāja” away with a score of 1:2. On March 14, we will host BFC “Daugavpils” at home in Mežaparks.
Last year, we defeated “Liepāja” five times. At the end of the season, the team from Liepāja took third place, but we became champions.
The game in Liepāja did not have many goal scoring opportunities. In the 3rd minute, the referee Andris Treimanis saw a foul in our penalty area, and the opponents took advantage of the opportunity from the 11-meter mark.
In the second half, we controlled the ball much more than the opponents, but there were no real chances for a long time. In the 81st minute, after a corner kick, center defender Paulo Eduardo scored from close range – 1:1. We played the rest of the match poorly, already in the additional time we committed another foul in the penalty area, and “Liepāja” scored the second penalty. The final result was a loss of 1:2.
On March 14th, we will host BFC “Daugavpils” at Mežaparks Sports Village.
