On Thursday, in the play-off round of the UEFA Conference League, we lost 0:2 in an away match to “Sparta Prague”, but the winner will be determined in the sum of two games. On Wednesday, the second leg match at Skonto Stadium.
We started the UEFA Conference League qualification from the second round, where we defeated Georgian “Dila Gori” (2:1, 2:2). In the third round, we were stronger than Israeli “Beitar” (3:0, 1:3). In the second round, “Sparta” defeated “Aktobe” from Kazakhstan (1:2, 4:0), but in the previous round they won “Ararat-Armenia” from Armenia (4:1, 2:1).
The first 25 minutes of the game were very difficult for us. We survived the first offensive, but the opponents still had a lot of set pieces, and in the 22nd minute after a corner kick “Sparta” scored a goal (0:1). The second half was more close. In one of the episodes, Meissa Diop hit dangerously, but the opponent’s goalkeeper was in his place. After the first half, we were trailing 0:1.
We played second half with high quality. We even controlled the ball more, brought the ball into the box several times, but missed a good last shot. In the 90th minute, the opponents organized a quick attack, at the end of which Albion Rrahmani made a shot in the corner. A painful loss with 0:2.
The winner will be determined in the sum of two games, and the second leg will be played on August 27 at the Skonto Stadium.
