Deal done: Babec will continue his career at Croatian club Osijek

We have reached an agreement with the Croatian club “Osijek” on the transfer of central midfielder Hrvoje Babec to his native club after the end of his loan contract. Hrvoje, thank you for your work at our club and good luck in the future!

Hrvoje signed a contract with our club in the summer of 2022. In total, Babec played 91 games for our club, scored ten goals and gave five assists. In 2023, Babec won the Latvian Cup with the team.

Earlier this year, Babec went on loan with the option to buy to the Croatian Highest league club “Osijek”. Hrvoje is a grown up player of this club. Babec has played 19 games, scored three goals and made two assists.

“Osijek” will take the opportunity and buy out Babec’s contract, and the Croat will continue his career at the Croatian Highest league club after the end of the loan contract.

On Monday evening at the Skonto Stadium in the 14th round of the Latvian Highest league, we defeated “Liepāja” with a score of 2:0. Goals were scored by Anthony Contreras and Marko Regža. On Saturday, the away game against “Metta”.

In the first round, we defeated “Liepāja” with a score of 5:2. Before this match, we had won seven games in a row.

In the early part of the game, both teams played active football, tried to create moments and open the result of the game. In the 30th minute, we did it, when Anthony Contreras scored a goal – 1:0. The first half ended with this result.

In the second half, we remained with ten men, when the referee sent-off Contreras in the 60th minute. In the remaining part of the game, we demonstrated a dominant performance, and seven minutes later Marko Regža made it 2:0. We had several more very good chances, but this time there were no more goals scored. Victory with a score of 2:0.

Next game on Saturday away against “Metta”.

On Saturday, in the 12th round of the Latvian Highest league at the Skonto Stadium, we defeated “Jelgava” with score 2:0. Both goals were scored by Reginaldo Ramires. On Wednesday, the away game in Daugavpils.

Before this match, we had won five games in a row – 3:0 against “Tukums 2000”, 3:0 against “Grobina”, 1:0 against RFS, 5:1 against “Super Nova” and 3:1 against “Auda”.

In the first half of the game, we were better in all statistical indicators, except for goals scored. The opponents played actively and disciplined on both sides of the field, and there were few good moments. After the first half, a fair goalless draw – 0:0.

In the second half, we demonstrated a strong performance and deservedly scored two goals. Reginaldo Ramires scored the first goal from the penalty area in the 65th minute – 1:0. In the last minutes of the game, Ramires scored another goal and secured the team a 2:0 victory.

On Wednesday, the game is away in Daugavpils.

Tonight  in the 11th round of the Latvian Highest league, we defeated FK “Auda” at the Skonto Stadium as a guest with a scoreline of 3:1. Goals were scored by Anthony Contreras, Reginaldo Ramires and Orlando Galo! Saturday’s game against “Jelgava”.

At the beginning of the season, we played a 2:2 draw against FK “Auda”. Before this game we both, we were in second and third place in the tournament table.

We demonstrated a very strong performance in the first half. In the 20th minute, Anthony Contreras scored a goal from close range after a team combination – 1:0. Krišjānis Zviedris was convincing in our goal, but in the 37th minute, Reginaldo Ramires scored a penalty kick (2:0). At the end of the half, Orlando Galo scored a beautiful goal, and after the first half we were leading 3:0.

The second half was quite nervous. There were a lot of VAR breaks. In the 57th minute, Zviedris saved us from the penalty spot, the referee decided to give the opponents another chance, and they took it (1:3). The VAR system decided several more moments, but there were no more goals scored, and we won 3:1.

Saturday’s game at Skonto Stadium against FK “Jelgava”.

Tonight in the 10th round match of the Latvian Highest league, we defeated “Super Nova” in an interesting game with a scoreline of 5:1. Goals were scored by Anthony Contreras, Reginaldo Ramires, Meissa Diop, Raivis Jurkovskis and Orlando Galo! On May 5, the game at Skonto Stadium against FK “Auda”.

Before this match, we had won three games in a row, and the victory in the last game against RFS was especially important, when we were better in the Riga derby with a scoreline of 1:0.

We managed to score a fairly quick goal against SK “Super Nova”. The opponents made a mistake in their own half, Jackson Kenio passed to Anthony Contreras, and the Costa Rican striker hit the ball into the net – 1:0. We must also praise the opponents, who created a couple of good moments in the first half. In one of the episodes, Krišjānis Zviedris saved us perfectly. In the 36th minute, Gauthier Mankenda played great in the middle of the field, but at the end of the attack, Reginaldo Ramires made a shot into the corner of the goal. After the first half, we were leading 2:0.

The home team also played well at the beginning of the second half, but in the 58th minute, our attack ended with a goal from Meissa Diop – 3:0. The opponents also scored one goal, when Mārcis Ošs stood out – 3:1. In the 75th minute, Raivis Jurkovskis scored a very beautiful goal (4:1). Two minutes later, Orlando Galo took his chance. The final result was a victory with a score of 5:1.

The next game is on May 5 at Skonto Stadium against FK “Auda”.

On Saturday, in the 9th round of the Latvian Highest league, we defeated RFS in the Riga derby away with the scoreline of 1:0! Orlando Galo scored the winning goal for our team! Thursday’s game against “Super Nova”!

Before this game, RFS was six points ahead. In previous seasons, a draw was often recorded between the two teams, but this time it was very important for us to win.

At the beginning of the game, the opponents were slightly better, but we managed to keep a clean sheet together. After about 15 minutes, the game became more close, we had some potentially good opportunities, but there was no good final shot. After the first half 0:0.

In the second half, we were clearly the stronger team on the field. We created several scoring opportunities, and finally scored in the 81st minute of the game. Orlando Galo scored with a second header after a corner – 1:0. An emotional and important team victory in the Riga derby.
