After two seasons spent together, next year we will no longer see central midfielder, the backbone and captain of Riga FC Women, Manyima Stevelmans, in our team.
In the club’s first season of existence, Manyima played a full season and was recognized as the best midfielder in the Women’s League, while at the Laureates’ Evening she received the award for the 2024 Best Women’s Football Player!
In her second season, after suffering an injury at the beginning of the year, Manyima was the team’s greatest support off the pitch during the first months. Only in July, after recovering from the injury, did she return to the field wearing the captain’s armband in the Champions League match against Flora, helping the team to win all of this year’s titles!
“I came to the team when it just started last year March. All was new but the girls were very nice immediately. We didn’t have much time to build and become a team before our first game of the league started. Still we managed to do the basics and slowly we started to become a team. We worked hard which payed off in becoming the champions that season, which nobody expected when we started that season.
This year the team got even better and we bonded more and get to know each other better and better. All of that and hard work ofcourse led to winning 4 trophies, beautiful memories, friendships and a place that I can call my second home for the past 2 years. These things and the team/ club will forever stay in my heart. I will look back to Riga with joy and a smile on my face.”
