Tonight in the game of the 23rd round of the Latvian Highest league, we defeated FK “Liepāja” with a scoreline of 3:2. The goals were scored by Joao Grimaldo and Abdulrahman Taiwo, but once the opponents scored in their own goal. On Thursday, the game against Georgians in the Conference League.
This year, we defeated the Liepāja team in both matches – 5:2 and 2:0. Before the game, we were the leaders of the championship, but Liepāja took fourth place.
The start of the game was very bad. Already in the 2nd minute, we played badly on our side of the field, and the opponents scored a goal from close range – 0:1. We were able to bounce back, and in the 12th minute the home team scored own goal after our good combination (1:1). We continued to dominate and Joao Grimaldo scored a beautiful goal at the end of the half. After 45 minutes we were in the lead with 2:1.
We also played more with the ball in the second half, but in the 66th minute we made a foul in our own penalty area, and Kivon Leidsman scored from the 11-meter mark (2:2). At the end of the game, we did everything to earn the victory. In the 90th minute, there were good combination, the opponents made a foul, and Abdulrahman Taiwo scored a penalty. The final result was a 3:2 victory.
On July 24, we will meet the Georgian club “Dila Gori” in the 2nd round of UEFA Conference League qualification at the Skonto Stadium. The kick-off at 20:00!
